Breakfast Club

We know that how kids eat and drink can have a huge impact on their ability to learn in school. Breakfast consumption in particular improves memory, test grades and school attendance (Rampersaud, G. et al. 2005).

Did you know that an Alberta study revealed that 25% of boys and 50% of girls do not eat breakfast everyday (Health Canada, 2004). At A.E. Bowers, we want to ensure that every child has the opportunity to have a nutritious breakfast on school days.

Starting on January 11, 2016, we will have some breakfast items available to our students for regular or occasional use. Students participating in the program are welcome to come inside the school to the Learning Commons, through the front door, any time between 7:45 and 8:10.

Breakfast choices will often include boiled eggs, fresh fruit, protein bars, cheese, and whole grain bread. The club will be supervised by staff members at the school.

If you have any questions about the Breakfast Club, please call Trena McKinnon, CDA, at the school.
