School Council FAQ

Q:  What do we do?

A:  ADVISORY ROLE  We discuss many school issues such as school safety, school calendar, the school education plan, school hours, and student health.

SUPPORT  Some highlights of our involvement last year include:

  • Interact with RVS Administration on Key Issues
  • Coordinating volunteers in the school
  • Supper for Staff on Parent-Teacher Interview Nights
  • Staff Appreciation Week
  • Financial support for Performing Arts
  • Financial support for Artist in Residence Program
  • Hot Dogs for Sports Day
  • Poinsettia Fundraiser for Adopt-a-Family
  • Funded a portion of Swimming Lessons
  • In-Line Skating Program

Q:  Where?

A:  Council Connectins typically meets the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 PM in the staff room.  Child care is provided.

Q:  Why would I want to join?

A:  1)  You will become better informed about your child's education

2)  You can be a part of the decision-making process for the school

3)  You will meet other parents and make new friends

4)  You will feel more connected and at home at A. E. Bowers
