Volunteering at A.E. Bowers

At A.E. Bowers we recognize the vital role of volunteers in our school.  We invite you to join the rich tradition of teamwork that continues to bring joy and success to our staff, parents and students.

Please note that as per Rocky View Schools policy, all volunteers in our school must have a criminal record check on file at the office that is no more than 5 years old.

The following are some examples of volunteer opportunities within our school:

  • Classroom Volunteer: There are many ways your time in the classroom can help.  Whether it's listening to a child read, photocopying or preparing bulletin boards, there is always lots to do.  Please contact your child's teacher about volunteering in the classroom.
  • Wee Read: Reading for 30 minutes per week with students in kindergarten.  There is some training required.  Please contact Mrs. Bent for more information.
  • Friends of A.E. Bowers:  This group of parents organizes all fundraising activities.  Their dedication has helped to obtain our playgrounds, our sound system, classroom cameras and many other benefits for our school.
  • Helping Hands:  A volunteer initiative that brings in a group of volunteers 2 set days a month to help teachers and staff with various projects.
  • Learning Commons Volunteer:  The library is a busy and essential part of the school that can always use help to keep it organized and efficient.
  • Casino:  Volunteers would be working with casino employees performing jobs such as cashier, chip runner or count room staff.
  • Other Yearly Events:  Throughout the year, there are exciting school events that require a lot of volunteer help.  These include Christmas concert, staff appreciation week, Sports Day (in May), book fairs and field trips.
